Anyone know how to make a fallout shelter into a wine cellar?

My wife and I just purchased a home built in 1953. It has a fallout shelter with concrete ceilings and walls and it cool inside and a bit damp. We were thinking this would be a good wine cellar but haven't been able to find anyone specific plans on what we would need to convert the shelter. I think the temp has to be between 55-60 and humidity between 60-70% but beyond that I'm clueless.

You are sooo lucky! I use electronic cellars and offsite storage and the cost really adds up!

You are correct with your numbers. You can get a cooling unit at home depot and probably a dehumidifier too, if you need to. Racks for your wine are not all that expensive either. I'm so jealous! Have fun.

Do more research about the humidity, that sounds a bit high. We built a wine cellar in an indoor cistern that sounds similar to what you have. All you need now is shelving. We added 4 inch round terra cotta tubes about 1 foot long to the shelves to actually hold the bottles. Works great!

you really dont need expensive equipment, check the temp and humidity, as long as it stays below 70 farenheit and temperature doesn't change throughout the day, you'll be fine. you can get shelving pretty cheap. i would say 75% of wine that is in a "cellar" is not in ideal humidity, and alot of it isn't in ideal temperature either. but they are all fine
